The 5.7L HEMI has MDS — Multi-Displacement System. Cylinders 1, 4, 6, 7 shut off at highway speed to save fuel. Most Charger owners have no idea this is happening.
When MDS lifters fail — and they do — dealers charge $2,500+. The factory manual has the full teardown procedure, lifter part numbers, and valley gasket torque sequence. It’s the same job as the Silverado 5.3L AFM issue, same fix, same savings.
The Charger also has some quirky electrical stuff. The TIPM (Total Integrated Power Module) controls almost everything — windows, fuel pump, wipers. The wiring diagrams in the factory manual are the only way to diagnose it without guessing.
